Susan Young said it appeared to have a spear or some form of spike in its rump and was unable to dive.
“I can't comprehend someone doing this to such a beautiful creature,” she said.
She was able to find a contact for wildlife rescue group WIRES in a previous online Narooma News report, and specifically a mobile phone app to report injured wildlife.
WIRES passes on all marine mammal rescues to the ORRCA organisation.
They are open 24/7 and the phone number is 02 9415 3333.
“I sent them this photo and they have swung into action pretty quickly,” she said.
We now await any outcome and hopefully a rescue of the injured seal.
If you spot the animal, contact ORRCA immediately.
Also if you know who was responsible for this and any other cruelty to marine mammals or other wildlife, contact the Narooma National Parks office on 4476 0800 or even Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
