Thirty players were put through a gruelling physical session that left many players wishing they hadn’t had that extra slice of Christmas pudding a few weeks ago.
Clint was happy with the efforts of the boys, but he said that there was a long way to go to reach peak fitness.
Most of last year’s players were present with a few more due to brush off the cobwebs next Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm when the ladies’ league tag Devillettes will also be present.
There were a number of under 18s training, but the club needs to see them at training next week to form a team. The Devils praised Paul O’Brien for his support as the major sponsor again.
At the AGM last week Jaimie Wright was reelected president with Will Monteith and Malcolm Wyeth vice-presidents. Bob Burnside is secretary, Romi van den Heuvel treasurer and registrar, Scotty Taylor ground manager and Vince Harper canteen manager and a strong group of 10 make up the rest of the committee.
The Group 16 nines tournament is at Bill Smyth Oval on Saturday, March 18 with games from about 9am to 5pm. The first competition round is at Cooma on April 3 and the first home game in on April 9 against the strong Bega Roosters.
