Fundraising events are being organised and the committee hope to secure a loan from Eurobodalla Shire Council on Tuesday, August 9.
Committee member Doug Williams said he was “very confident” the third Granite Town festival would go ahead at this stage.
“I am quite confident there will be a Granite Town,” he said.
“Last year’s financial result didn’t leave us with a lot to play with coming into this year. We have had to do quite a bit of fundraising to get to a point to where we can scope out this year’s festival.”
Mr Williams said if councillors voted not to loan them money, they would have to “take stock”.
“We are hoping they will loan us some money to get it off the ground,” he said.
“If that proposal isn’t successful, we as a committee will have to take stock of where the festival is at and make a decision about whether we can put it on or whether we have to revise the scope of the offering.”
For next year’s event, the committee will apply for a grant through Destination NSW.
“To be considered for Destination NSW funding, you have put a grant in 12 months before,” Mr Williams said.
“We will be applying this year for the funding but it will be for 2017. Last year’s committee was small and stretched for time and they were so busy organising the nuts and bolts of the festival, so didn’t get to applying for the funding for this year.”
Although there hasn’t been any announcement on what acts are on this year’s line up, Mr Williams said people could expect it to be released “within weeks”.
“We have secured acts but I cannot say who,” he said.
“In the past, acts have been announced in bits and pieces as acts have been signed.
“Our intent this year is to get a full line up booked, with one announcement. Tickets will go on sale at the same time as the line up is announced.
“We have some very exciting acts that will be familiar to a lot of people and some acts which will be interesting and entertaining, just like the previous two Granite Town festivals.”
Two stages are planned for this year’s event; a main stage and a smaller stage in the ‘lifestyle village’, a new addition to the festival.
“In the village, we are planning on some community stalls, massage, Aboriginal cultural displays, that sort of thing and a secondary entertainment stage,” Mr Williams said.
“We plan for ample opportunity for local acts to get an airing at the festival.”
The help raise funds for the event, an outdoor movie night will be held at the Moruya Jockey Club. Plans are still not confirmed.
Riverlights is also shaping up to be bigger and better than ever before, with plans in place to stop the event from being delayed, like it was in 2015.
“The artists and directors are getting more and more experienced each year and are planning a spectacular offering,” Mr Williams said.
“We have commenced planning of the choreography on the night and the entry points that we are planning will mean there won’t be any delays like last year.
“We are hoping the community will get behind the event and get down to Riverside Park again on the Friday night.”
The festival is set to held in Riverside Park, Moruya, on October 28, 29 and 30.
