The 50-year-old man was reported missing to police about 6.40pm Sunday, after he went bushwalking in the Murramarang National Park and failed to return to a campsite at Pretty Beach.
Police were told the man entered the Durras Mountain walking track at Pretty Beach alone, carrying water, a small amount of food, and a map.
Officers from Shoalhaven Local Area Command attended and commenced a search for the man, also receiving assistance from the NSW Rural Fire Service.
The search was suspended overnight.
Police hold concerns for the man’s welfare, as he is not familiar with the area and has limited provisions.
His identity has not been released.
