The speaker was the Meals on Wheels Eurobodalla manager Carol Meindl.
The members began their meeting with drinks and nibbles, followed by a hearty soup and then a Meals on Wheels meal that they had selected earlier followed by dessert. Soup and dessert were made by Michael.
Carol explained to the meeting how there are 170 volunteers in Eurobodalla Shire, who pack and deliver some 80,000 meals each year and provide other services such as taking clients out shopping, getting them to appointments and even charity shop visits around the district.
Donna and Michael are volunteers with Meals on Wheels and thought club members would appreciate knowing about the service and taste the meals, some 23 different meals and a range of soups and desserts to choose. Members gave the service a thumbs up and thought it was great being able to taste the meals.
Finally, about $430 was raised for the Rotary Club of Narooma ’s epic 1000km walk next March with the funds going to End Polio and a library at Rang’i in Kenya.
Members paid their usual weekly meal price and Donna and Michael contributed the food, other than the Meals on Wheels, and drinks.
“An easy and unique ways to fundraise and learn about a great service available in Narooma,” Michael said.
