A Tuross Head man wants the site where a whale was buried in 1980 to be protected from further erosion, after bones were exposed.
Phil Byrne witnessed the whale’s distress after it beached in the area and unsuccessful attempts were made to tow it out to sea.
It was eventually buried nearby in McWilliam Park, but Mr Bryne said high seas had now exposed some of its bones.
He has asked Eurobodalla Shire Council to rebury the remains and prevent further erosion.
“As one who witnessed the whale’s trauma when it was stranded, the least we can do is let it rest in peace,” Mr Byrne said.
