Big dogs, small dogs; hairy dogs, smooth dogs and maybe some with no hair at all...they’re all heading to Bermagui this weekend.
Saturday to Monday, February 11-13 will see the Bega Valley Kennel and Obedience Club holding its Annual Championship Shows and Obedience Trials.
There will be many and varied breeds of purebred dogs on display from 8am each day, with obedience dogs going through their paces in the evenings from 7pm.
So come along and see the show dogs competing for championship points and ribbons, and the obedience dogs showing how clever and well trained they are at Bermagui sports oval.
Then – if you want to see some more clever dogs in action, Wednesday, February 15, sees both the Sapphire Coast Kennel & Obedience Club, and the Bega Valley Kennel Club conducting Rally Obedience Trials – one in the morning and one in the evening.
Rally Obedience is a newer, less formal type of dog trial – where handlers and dogs follow a course, with each action or “station” printed on a sign. Handlers are encouraged to praise and encourage their dogs during their round and most dogs seem to enjoy this type of competition.
