The town’s seaside fair had its annual parade, with hundreds of people aged young and old walking and smiling down the street while waving at the crowd that lined up to watch them.
The theme this year was 20th birthday Mad Hatters’ Party.
Bermagui Little Lambs Preschool joined in the celebration getting behind the Mad Hatters them and winning the Best-on-Foot award in the fair parade.
The Bermagui Seaside Fair parade was also a wonderful opportunity for the Bermagui and District CWA ladies to display their creative flair dressing up as multiple “Mad Hatters”.
Some people in the crowd were lucky enough to receive one of the CWA’s decorated patty cakes as part of the party theme. Octogenarian Hilda Mardell had the crowd chuckling with her depiction of the Queen of “Tarts” towing a giant teapot behind her goffer.
Nancy Whackett as Alice and Norma Reid as The White Rabbit completed the “We’re All Mad Here” scenario
As is tradition, the day started with the blessing ceremony down at the Bermagui Fishermen’s Wharf and it was a glorious morning for the service which poured blessings on the townships and local communities along with the traditional "Blessing of the Fleet".
Reverend Mandy Wheatley presided at the Blessing Service at Saturday's Seaside Fair. She is currently the locum rector at the Anglican Parish of Bermagui/Cobargo/Quaama.
