Roads and Maritime Services has completed a review of Mystery Bay Road and recommended the speed limit be reduced from 100km/h to 80km/h.
The community will be given at least 14 days notice of when the new speed limit change comes into effect via the media and electronic message signs on the side of the road, a Roads and Maritime Services spokesperson said.
This decision was made as a result of the Mystery Bay Landcare group making a submission to the Eurobodalla Shire Council traffic committee that was forwarded to the RMS in September 2016. The group lobbied for the lower speed to protect wildlife and walkers.
The RMS have advised now that the speed zone review has been signed off by the relevant officers, a work order has been put in place to install the signs. They expect the installation to be undertaken in the next three months.
