Narooma Men’s Bowls
Social Bowls Winners’ Circle
There was a good turnout on Wednesday with 46 bowlers making up seven rinks of triples and one rink of pairs. The Maggsy Draw was highest winning margin and picking up first prize were Leigh Falkiner, Junior McFarlane and Tony Palmer (skip) who rocketed out to lead 20 to five after 11 ends on their way to a 28 to 11 win over Ron Douglass, Peter Robson and Jeremy Seaton (skip). Second place went to Peter Hattam, Gerry Harvey and Peter Pickett (skip) who led 16 to eight after 11 ends and maintained their margin to take the match 25 to 14 over Brian Seaman, visitor Barry Collins and Geoff Robinson (skip). The first resting toucher went to TD, Terry Dowling, well before anyone else went close. Well done Terry, that confirms your good play in recent weeks.
On Saturday we had seven rinks of pairs with the winners determined by the lowest winning score. First place went to Graham Cummins and Keith Bowater (skip) who led 11 to seven after 11 ends and picked up one shot on the last end for a 19 to 18 win against Col Armstrong and Greg Ryan (skip). Second place went to Jeff McCusker and Ray Gale (skip) who were down seven to 18 after 11 ends and stormed home to square the match at 22 all but won on ends from Allan Chisolm and Peter Jones (skip).
There was two games of triples and two games of pairs for Sunday's Joe Special. The winners were decided by the toss of a coin, after two teams were level on highest winning score and ends won, with Leo Winter, Sue Bender and Barry Lymbery (skip) who played well throughout for a 29 to nine win over Cindy Newell, Merrie Downie and John Downie (skip). It was great to see a new starter in Cindy Newell this week and also Rob and Jenny McIntyre who have also started in the last couple of weeks. We hope you enjoyed yourselves and continue to come along on Sundays.
Club Mixed Pairs Championship
The semi final between Helen Donovan and Keith Pickett (skip) and Bev and Keith Bowater (skip) was carried over from last week's washout with Helen and Keith going into Thursday's match leading 15 to 10. Bev and Keith started well to get within one shot only to see Helen and Keith kick clear and even though Bev and Keith picked up three shots on the last end they went down 18 to 19 to Helen and Keith.
The final was played on Sunday morning between Gail Riley and Col Armstrong (skip) and Helen Donovan and Keith Pickett (skip). Gail and Col started well to race out to a 10 to three lead after six ends and continued their margin to lead 13 to six after 12 ends. Helen and Keith tried valiantly but couldn't close the gap with Gail and Col going on to a 20 to 12 win. Congratulations to Gail Riley and Colin Armstrong on becoming the 2017 Mixed Pairs Champions.

Narooma Women’s Bowls
Another lovely day for social bowls last Tuesday, when seventeen ladies enjoyed the last days of autumn. Three rinks of triples were on the green, thanks to Jenny Coulson who played the swinging lead. Sue Bender, Isabel Halsey and Sandra Breust (skip) won their game against Jan Rapkins, Marilyn Thomson and Gail Riley (skip) then collected the lucky rink prize.
Heather McGourty and Kerry Ferguson were this week's raffle winners, Kerry also won the 50 Club.
A reminder to bowlers that entries close for the Club Triples this week, play commences next Friday.
