The Narooma inlet foreshore along the Big4 Narooma Easts Holiday Park has been shored by the Eurobodalla Council and Green Army workers.
Meanwhile plans are progressing to shore up Lewis Island further down the inlet on the west of side of Narooma Bridge that is also suffering significant erosion. Click here for more on Lewis Island plans
A council spokesperson said the bank of the estuary along the Easts Holiday Park area was actively eroding from wave wash and from people climbing on the bank, to the point where it was likely the eroded bank would undercut the footpath.
The bank stabilisation works were initiated by the council and undertaken by the Green Army team, the council spokesperson said.
“It involved installing ‘eco-logs,’ at the base of the bank and planting native species behind the logs. The logs instantly prevent further erosion from the impacting waves and the native grasses and shrubs ensure that the bank is strengthened into the future.”
