The Moruya SES unit was called in to remove a large tree blocking access to a property off Wagonga Scenic Drive at Narooma on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 7.
Unit controller Jeff McMahon said a person looking after a property for the owner called for assistance when the tree fell, blocking the road and he was unable to get out.
“We did it rather than the council because it was on crown land. We are really only responsible for private land,” Mr McMahon said.
“We chainsawed one end then winched it off using a ‘redirect’ from a side tree to pull it sideways.”
The Moruya SES unit responds to storm damage calls and flood rescues all the way down as far as Akolele.
