But whether the shire is on track to break any records for low temperatures for July won’t be clear until we reach the end of the month.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, Narooma weather station at the Marine Rescue base has the lowest monthly mean temperature for month of July at 4.5 degrees. The lowest ever temperature for July was 0.6 degrees recorded in 1968.
The weather station at the Moruya airport meanwhile has the lowest monthly mean temperature for month of July at 2.3 degrees, while the lowest temperature ever recorded in July was -4 degrees recorded in 2003.
Moruya this July has already experienced a string of below freezing minimum temps with the coldest being -2.4 on July 3 and then -1.1 on July 2 and again July 8.
It was the morning of Sunday, July 2 that Narooma News reader Peter Nelipa sent us a photo of frost on the ocean foreshore at Dalmeny.
July is listed at the coldest month at Narooma and Moruya with the coldest mean minimum all year.
One group relishing the frosty conditions are the Narooma winter swimmers who take the waters of the Narooma inlet every Sunday during the winter months. If you think you can hack the recent frosty temps, join them at 9am on the south end of Bar Beach.
