Narooma Women’s Bowls
Social bowlers enjoyed another lovely winter's day last Tuesday, three games of triples, one of pairs. Margaret Naylor played swinging lead, while Heather McGourty and Bev Bowater shared their triples spot. Also welcomed were Sandra Gates and Helen Grubb, visiting from Victoria. The triples game on rink six proved close in the early stages then Sandra Gates, Sue Wales and Barb McNamara held a five shot advantage with the last two ends to go. Pam Grant, Gail Palmer and Dawn Kenny won the following two ends resulting in a 20 all draw. Winners of the lucky rink, both teams shared the prize money. Marilyn Thomson had the winning raffle ticket, taking home a meat tray from Rapley's Meats. Coral Read celebrated her birthday on Sunday, we hope you had a wonderful day Coral.

In an exciting finish Marg and Sandra claimed the last three ends to level the score at 16 all. A deciding end was played which went to Sue and Lorraine, booking them a finals spot.
Also after enjoying a bye, Kerry Ferguson and Dawn Kenny played Pam Grant and Bev Bowater. This proved to be a close game in the first half, then Pam and Bev went on to secure the match and a place in the final. – Bitmoregrass
Dalmeny Men’s Bowls
An overcast and sometimes sunny but cool Monday afternoon saw 36 bowlers on No.2 green with the highest winning margin deciding the winners on 13 in the organiser’s team of Account Cartwright, Whiskey-an Dequinta and Chris Silver-jones from the runners-up on 6 in a countback in Pete the Pom, visitor Barry Richard-er and Windy Ray. The only resting toucher went to Scarf-man Jack and although the $75 jackpot was won by 2 teams they thankfully left it in the bag for next week and the only wrong bias sinner was Ex.PM Neil. The raffle prizes claimed after the 1st numbers became the last confusing all but our Keith were shared by Peter Mur-100, Visitor Barry, Bruce Cover-kins and Bill Dray-left.
A cloudy Thursday had 34 bowlers on the green for 18 ends before a very cold windy and at times wet change had them rushing for the warmth of the clubhouse where the points system was the game decider which saw winners on 19 in the Foot-sen couple Christine and Finn and Garry L-rentacar from the runners-up on 18-1/2 in Laughing Lloyd, Cobber Dudley and the Goose. The first and only resting toucher was scored by our Dudley but the $268 jackpot was not won. The wrong bias sinners included Golden-arches Alan, Linda Jo, Ex.PM Neil and Lois Mac OR Greg while the raffle prizes went to Enid Streamer, John Verr-heaven, Tom’s son Ken, visitor Linda, Sick-you Namouski and Marg Joiner. Great to have Dudley back on the green awaiting the news on Eunice and hopefully Deviate Jeff will soon be doing the same.
The weather was very kind except for the cool starts during the Winter Carnival where in the triples on Friday the winners were Norm Budin, Buzz Breust and Jay Breust (skip) with 2nd place going to Bill Rayner, Peter Davies and Jamie Freeman (skip) and 3rd place to Gerry Harvey, Peter Pickett and Keith Bowater (skip). On Saturday in the pairs the winners were Bill Rayner and Jim Freeman (skip) from 2nd place-getters Peter Pickett and Keith Bowater (skip) and 3rd place going to Bruce McKenzie and Mick Moore (skip). Sunday saw the mixed pairs in action with Kirsty and Wayne (skip) Woods as the winners, Margaret Carpenter and Garry Lavis (skip) in 2nd place with Bruce and Maureen (skip) McKenzie coming in 3rd.
My sincere thanks and appreciation goes to the Binalong Cavies Brenda and Clive for their reporting and photography during the carnival as does that of the players to the men’s committee for the organising and running of another great winter carnival.
Dalmeny Women’s Bowls
Another beautiful Dalmeny day saw the first round of the Major Triples Championship being played as well as social bowls. Winners on the day, decided by lucky rinks, were lead Chris Hansen, second Margaret Laker and skip Maureen McKenzie. Runners-up were Glen Pisanos, Eileen Lavis, Robin Gourley and Lyn Goldsmith, a minor miracle with Lyn as skip. Lucky raffle prizes went to Gail Farrell and Margie Brown. Well done to all bowlers.
The DWBC AGM was held this week, so it is timely to acknowledge the hard work and leadership of the out-going executive, President Maureen McKenzie, Secretary Anne Luke and Treasurer Margaret Carpenter. They managed the club and the bowls harmoniously, effectively and soundly during the 2016/2017 season. We owe them our gratitude. Similarly, the women on the Match Sub-committee and the Social Sub- committee did a great job every week and for special events, to make our bowling life run smoothly and pleasantly. Many thanks.
Best of luck to the new executive, President Maureen McKenzie, Secretary Lyn Goldsmith and Treasurer Margaret Carpenter. The retiring secretary will be an especially hard act to follow but I guess we will muddle through! Good bowling at the friendly club. LGO.
