
Couple located – Two people and a dog stranded for two days west of Bodalla were located at 12noon yesterday by the Polair 1 chopper safe and well on the Badja Fire Trail. Ground crews were coming from Coma to retrieve the couple, a 62-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, who bogged in their vehicle on a fire trail in the Dampier State Forest, Nerrigundah, calling for help on Sunday evening, July 30.
A search was conducted by Police, SES, Narooma VRA, Ambulance paramedics, Forestry and RFS personnel on Monday. The search resumed Tuesday with better weather conditions. The couple had been in partial communication with emergency services during the search.
A NSW Rural Fire Service spokesman said the service opened its stations at Nerrigundah and Bodalla for the coordination of the search. A Toll Helicopter spokeswoman said they were tasked to assist and find two missing persons at about 4.30pm on Monday, July 31. Westpac Lifesaver Helicopter CEO Stephen Leahy said Lifesaver 23 was in Sydney for maintenance but was due back at its Moruya base at lunchtime yesterday.
Quad bike accident – Narooma police responded to a quad bike accident about 2.40pm Monday on Lyrebird Ridge Road, east of Cobargo. Two local men crashed their ATV quad bike into a tree while travelling a reported 80km/h. Both were able to walk away from the crash and drive themselves to a nearby location where they were met by paramedics, who treated the pair for suspected head and chest injuries. The Toll Helicopter was called, landing at Cobargo sportsground, before flying the men to Canberra Hospital.
Police assaulted – A 24-year-old Wallaga Lake female was charged with assaulting police and resisting arrest after a disturbance at the Narooma Library at 3.15pm on Monday. She allegedly became aggressive and assaulted a police officer. She was handcuffed, taken to the station and was granted bail.
Tools stolen – Unknown persons stole tools from a toolbox on the back of a utility parked on Mummaga Lake Drive, Dalmeny sometime between 4.15pm on Wednesday, July 26 and 9am Thursday, July 27. Compressor stolen – An air compressor was stolen from a construction site at a granny flat on Lamont Street, Bermagui sometime between Wednesday, July 19 and Monday, July 24. The offenders forced open a door to gain access. Crime scene investigators attended.
Plants stolen – A quantity of plants were stolen from the nursery section of the Cobargo Farm sometime between 8pm on Sunday, July 23 and 6.30am on Monday, July 24. Anyone with information can contact Narooma police or Crime Stoppers.
