A tough Bay Tigers team would not let the Devils get into the attacking pattern they used with such success to defeat Bega 50-10 last week, with their tough defence forcing errors and putting pressure on all key players.
Our try scorer was a very flu-ridden Liam Sweeney but the boys were never allowed to hit their straps.
Coaches Mark Lonsdale and Kerry Day were disappointed for the boys but proud of their achievements this year, playing with very short numbers at times and with several key injuries upsetting the year. Forward Harry Bunney came back from a serious shoulder injury for this game but unfortunately re-injured it. Bad luck mate.
All players tried hard with Milo Campbell, Dillon Smith and Nicholas Hoskins absolutely inspirational with their committed play. Matt, Durramah and Clyde Parsons gave their usual energetic displays.
Forwards Liam, Joey Scrymgeour, Jackson Kelly, Jordan Martin and Ziggy Topic worked hard to turn the game around while Gus Wilton did his best to get the ball going with Marcus Lonsdale-Patten and Will Middlemiss looking to make ground with every run. Mention must be made of Blake Cavanagh and Aidan Halliday who both unfortunately broke their collarbones mid-season.
Thanks go to coaches Mark and Kerry, trainers Paul Sweeney and Damian Rotumah, strapper Glenn Scrymgeour and First Aid man Craig Swadling for their efforts with the boys this year and a special thank you to team sponsor Scott Cavanagh from the Raw Prawn Bistro at O’Brien’s Hotel.
We hope to see all the boys back for season 2018, with a number of them moving into the senior Devils grades. These boys are the future of the Devils club and we hope to see them play for many years to come.
