U8’S were first to see action against a well organised solid Moruya side. Devils showed they were not to be taken lightly and matched the Sharks try for try but after conceding the Third Quarter to the Sharks and another even contest in the Final Quarter Moruya were slightly in front even though at this level the games are not scored. Great defensive games were delivered by Joel Constable and Quinten Gibson who shared ‘Player of the Round’.
With no Moruya U9 Team Kate’s Mod Girls were next up and again with their tight defence and attack that is relentless ran out winners 28-8. Again coaching staff could not split two players on their performance with Rogue Constable and Malaya Gibson sharing top honours. This performance began a dominant day for all Devil teams.
Andrew had U10’s ready with a ‘take no prisoners’ resolve when they ran on and they did not disappoint. It was to be an entertaining contest and was tight with both sides even at Half Time. Devils were not to be beaten and with solid defence and persistent attack ran out winners after a great Final Half finished 40-20 in front. Daniel Betts was undisputed as ‘Player of the Day’ with outstanding attack and defence.
U12s saw Brendan stand in for Ross and deliver another great game for this talented team. With 10-0 at Half Time they continued to build on this to finish 28-0 determined not to let the Sharks cross their line. This was a dominant performance again for this side, with Cowan Grieve-Law a definite standout on the day and given top honours.
After last year’s Grand Final clash for these U14 sides when Devil came out on top this was to be a cracker. With some players out Craig asked for 100% commitment from his boys if they were to retain Moruya. This Devil side did themselves proud with all boys lifting on the day and posted a 26-0 drumming on the Sharks. A great result with Coupar Woods given the nod after sensational defence out wide and named Player of the Game.
Scott’s International Girls proved too good against Moruya dominating both Halves and winning 22-4. The game saw Devil’s fitness and tight defence the decider for Narooma on the day, with great games delivered by Caitlin Reid and Chelsea Laurie. After some deliberation Caitlin finally received top honours on the day in a close decision and given ‘Player of the Round’.
The day concluded with a mighty clash for the U16’s. It was a ‘bone crunching’ encounter from both sides and had supporters on their feet with every tackle and massive hit ups. Devils went to the break 20-0 in front and came out with the same determination in the Second Half to complete the job. Final score saw Devils win 44-4 with Clyde Parsons given ‘Player of the Day’ for his outstanding game but all boys stood up in this massive encounter.
With six wins from six scored games this was another great day for our Club sending these sides to the Finals with high hopes. Devils host Bega in a catch up round this Saturday and on Sunday the 27th we will be hosting the Major Semi Finals which will be an enormous day of great footy with teams from our Club hopefully in all games.
