Blustery winds blasting from the north-east, a water temperature of 14 degrees and threatening skies led Bermagui Blue Pointers (incorporating the Blue Balls) founder, mentor and inspiration Gary Pearse to quip, “Bring back winter as this spring swimming is for the birds”.
The last swim of the 2017 season enabled all those attending to begin tapering their training in preparation for the ReBoot in Bermagui activities on September 23-24.
In a season which saw us welcome our oldest swimmer, youngest swimmer, an Iceberg, coldest water temperature, equal female and male participation as well as dominant female participation, the Bermagui Blue Pointers record book has few pages left to fill.
The end of season acknowledgements culminated in the awarding of Wim Hof Trophy for Clubperson of the Year.
This year’s worthy recipient was Sam McKee who stated it would be going “straight to the pool room”.
Thank you to all those who chose to disrobe at any time during the winter swim season and join us for a weekly frolic.
Much to our delight Baker and Williams Distillery of Mudgee, makers of the world renowned and multiple award winning butterscotch schnapps, recently announced their continued support in 2018.
Dear winter, I’m breaking up with you, it’s time I started seeing other seasons. And summer’s hot!
