Up the Garden Path

Up the Garden Path will showcase works by regional artists from October 13 to 29.

Curated by Eurobodalla artist Andrea Warren, the exhibition will feature 57 sculptures by 23 artists, both indoors and outdoors.

Gardens Manager Michael Anlezark said the event had been more than a year in the planning and all the works were inspired by nature.

“Sculptures have complemented gardens for centuries and the Botanic Gardens is a wonderful venue to showcase the broad range of artistic talents we have in our region,” Mr Anlezark said.

“They are created from a diverse range of materials – from stone, timber and bronze to the more delicate paper and felt – and the majority of works will be for sale.”

Art and culture at the Gardens was nothing new; the facility hosts River of Art exhibitions annually and last year presented the Shakespeare in the Gardens theatre event.

“We want Up the Garden Path to be become a major event on the community calendar that helps build on Eurobodalla’s growing reputation as an arts and cultural destination,” Mr Anlezark said.

“Depending on its initial success, we’re looking at holding it either annually or biennially.”

Up the Garden Path sculpture exhibition is free and can be viewed Friday 13 October to Sunday 29 October during the Gardens’ opening hours, Wednesday to Sunday, 9am to 4pm.
