“Our recent donation to the Dalmeny Fire Brigade has given them the opportunity to purchase a GPS Monitoring Unit,” a club spokeswoman said.
“The unit will be installed into the primary bush firefighting appliance giving the capability of expedient location and reporting on woodland and wild fires when navigating through bush land and dense forestation.”
RFS crews last week were battling two ‘suspicious’ fires that broke out near the Princes Highway, south of Narooma, on September 6. Crews were called to Corunna boat ramp and north Nangudga Lake – at about 2.45pm. An RFS spokesperson said “there was no reason for there to be fires in the area”.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact the police. We would really appreciate community support.” Crime Stoppers 1800 333 000.
