Narooma Men's Bowls
Social Bowls Winners Circle
Wednesday, October 4. Once again for the afternoon social bowls 46 nominations were entered.
The winners on the day were decided by the team with the highest winning score, with that side being, Peter James (played swinging lead) Tony Gors, & John Downie, with 37 shots, over Peter James, D. Hoken, & Ray Gale, a few shots behind.
Runners-up were, Kevin Cullen/Andy Edwards (shared a game), Graham Cummins & Greg Ryan, 30 shots over Garry Evans, Jeff Mc.Cusker & Paul Read 16 shots. What happened to everyone, there was no wind, nice greens & no resting toucher.
Saturday, October 7. Only 12 bowlers, and mostly regulars came along for the arvo bowls.
The winners were decided by lucky rinks, and those winners were Bondi Dave (visitor) & Moe Hinds with 27 shots over Warwick George & Carl Lee 17.
So get those game nominations back up again for next Saturday.
Sunday, October 8. Another decent roll-up for the Joes Special mixed bowls afternoon, 17 in total (2 rinks triples & 1 pairs).
The winners were from the pairs match, and they were Pam Grant & Jean Voss, 16 shots, over Ken Burrows and John MacNamara 15 shots.
Narooma Women
Last Tuesday was a special day on our bowls calendar, Patron and Life Members’ Day.
It was a day to thank our patron Vena Butt for her continuing support for our bowling members and club activities.
Life Member Norma Marsh once again travelled from the North Coast to join us.
Unfortunately, Daphne Clarke was unable to attend and it is hoped that we will see you soon Daphne.
Twenty bowlers were on the green for three games of triples with a few shared games.
Teams were decided with a Joe’s Special where players choose a stick for their team allocations.
There were no lucky rink prizes this week.
Instead, Patron Vena, Norma and Sandra Breust (filling in for Daphne) each awarded three prizes to players of their own choosing.
Leads – Jan Rapkins, Cindy Newell, Sue Bender;
Seconds – Mavis Hardy, Sue Wales, Barb McNamara, Marilyn Thomson;
Skips – Pat Wood, Jean Vos.
After lunch and raffles Norma spoke fondly of Narooma as it’s always been her Club.
All in all, a lovely day when old friends “caught up” and also welcomed our new members.
Bowls is much more than just bowling!
Thanks to all our hard workers for a successful day.
