State Government commits to redeveloping Moruya Hospital

He confirmed that the cash injection, allocated to the Southern NSW Local Health District, is to advance the necessary planning for future health services for the Eurobodalla Health Service, including the redevelopment of the aging Moruya Hospital.

“This is great news,” Mr Constance said. “First we had funding for the clinical services planning and then the funding to build our new South East Regional Hospital, which is now up and working.

“Now we can go to the next stage of clinical services planning for more health infrastructure for the Eurobodalla community. This will make a big difference in our community and it will help to attract new staff to work in our health services.”

Clinicians, health staff and the local community will be consulted during the development of the Clinical Services Plan, which will also assign priorities to the range of clinical and service requirements.

“The community of Eurobodalla deserves the best health services possible,” Mr Constance said. “Careful clinical planning will ensure our needs into the future are met.”

Minister for Health and Minister for Medical Research, Brad Hazzard, said that once the Clinical Services Plan had defined the future needs of the area, a range of planning options would be developed, addressing possible locations for the required services.

A Master Plan would inform decisions on the amount of space needed, the building staging process and the potential costs of an approved redevelopment.

“This is great news for our Eurobodalla communities and I look forward to seeing this process progress, enabling us to address the health needs of the shire into the future,” Mr Constance said.
