The 12th annual Narooma Boats Afloat Festival takes places on Wagonga Inlet on November 17-19 with about 50 boats expected.
Meanwhile, the Jervis Bay Maritime Museum in Huskisson will be celebrating all things nautical at the Classic & Wooden Boat Festival over three days starting on this Friday, November 10.
This family friendly event is an opportunity for the community to admire the beauty of timber vessels and the skills involved to craft them.
Launching on Friday evening with Maritime Trivia, the festival program has something for everyone! Whether it be relaxing by the pond with delights from the Oyster Bar and a glass of wine while the kids are busy making wooden boats, or keenly watching wood mill demonstrations and chatting to model boat builders.
The show will feature a display of handsome wooden and classic boats, including some built in the local area. Detailed boat models will be exhibited and radio controlled vessels will be setting sail in the pond on the Museum grounds. A range of historic surf boards and other antique nautical objects relating to early boat building will also be on display.
Organiser and museum volunteer, Stan Brown says that the festival “…will be the next best thing to actually being on the water but still messing about in boats!!”
Food and drink will be available to purchase onsite. Some events are ticketed and bookings encouraged.
For event enquiries and bookings, contact the Museum on 4441 5676 or email enquiries@jbmm.asn.au.
