Nick Cowley from the Narooma charter boat Playstation reports fishing out of Narooma this weekend was completely different to the previous few weekends with the majority of kingfish at Montague Island undersize and the seals making life very difficult.

So he adopted a change in tactics, fishing north of Narooma chasing gummy sharks and snapper and it paid off with three nice gummy sharks along with unfortunately losing a couple, plus a cracking snapper session with two snapper over the 70cm mark the best going 75cm around the 5+kg mark along with a bunch of smaller 1.5kg fish not to mention the 40 flatties while gummy fishing. “Not bad for an afternoon’s work!”
Graham Herbert at Moruya reports flathead have been quite plentiful this week in the Moruya river. Ryan's Creek inlet has been a “hot spot” to target them using soft plastics. Perch, luderick, bream and flathead have all been caught this past week around the town bridge on both soft plastics and hardbodied lures. Baits such as beach worms have also worked very well. A few whiting are starting to school up on the airport flats and have been caught using fresh beach worms and live yabbies.
In the Tuross River, jewfish are on the bite down the front of the system targeting the deeper sections of the channels. Fresh baits like squid and tailor have produced good fish this week. Soft plastics have also accounted for several catches. Flathead are being caught from the river mouth all the way up to the highway bridge on both bait and soft plastics. Whiting have been hanging around the four-ways and also upstream towards the bridge. Squirt worms have been working extremely well.
On the rocks and beaches, whiting, bream and flathead have all been caught off both North Head and Tuross beaches on baits such as worms and prawns. Metal blades/vibes have also been catching a few. Further south, there have been salmon, tailor and bream at Corunna and Tilba.
Moruya breakwall is still fishing well for tailor and there's some big ones around. Pilchards have been the best bait as of late. The squid have started to show up again at South Broulee.
Offshore, Graham reports there are plenty of flathead being caught offshore at the moment along Windsock beach in 30 metres. Snapper are still hanging around in close at around 15 metres of water off south head and Pedro point area. Squid and pillies for bait.
Between Broulee and Burrie Point is fishing well also for flathead and snapper using Instinct snapper snatches and squid. The reefs are fishing reasonably well for mowie, nannygai and snapper and the odd gummy shark also.
