Narooma Chamber of Commerce will celebrate its achievements over the past 12 months at its Annual General Meeting next Tuesday, November 21. All local business people are invited, not only chamber members.
“It’s been a particularly successful year for the chamber what with winning the Shire’s best Chamber of Commerce Award at Eurobodalla Business Awards and with re-establishing Narooma Oyster Festival as a quality regional event with associated marketing to promote Narooma as a destination,” chamber president Niels Bendixsen said.
“Re-establishing the festival and making its brand synonymous with delicious oysters, natural clean quality regional food and Narooma being a great place to visit was the chamber’s key initiative for the year.
“Our pre-festival marketing, boosted by a funding grant from Destination NSW, another chamber success story, potentially reached several million people.
“Then articles by invited key food and travel writers and bloggers for several months after the festival continued to promote Narooma and district, under Brand Narooma, as a tourist destination to potential holidaymakers.”
Mr Bendixsen said the chamber’s role was to encourage and support local businesses and the community, promote the district as a quality tourist destination as well as a great place to work and live, and strive to ensure the local business community had a voice within local and state politics.
“The fact we’re successfully doing that was recognised by our winning the Business Award, by a 22 per cent growth in membership over the last 12 months, and by the continued increase in visitation to the chamber’s excellent website which offers particular benefits to chamber members as well as to local business generally,” he said.
The AGM of Narooma Chamber of Commerce and Tourism Incorporated is at Club Narooma on Tuesday, November 21 at 7pm. A general chamber meeting will follow.
