Marriage of groups chance to party on Saturday

The official opening of the new MACS Studios will be on this Saturday, November 25 at the Narooma Men’s Shed complex on Glasshouse Rocks Road.

Dr Mike Kelly MP and Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes will give speeches at 12:15pm.

Wal Sheehan, president of the Narooma Men’s Shed, and I will also say a few words.

The purpose of the activities is to celebrate the coming together of two local community organisations: the Narooma Men’s Shed and the Montague Arts and Crafts Society (MACS), on the one site.

The event will, demonstrate the synergy and spirit of cooperation that exists between the two community organisations, providing a central facility in which the members can pursue their active hobbies and interests.

A wide selection of activities will be available including: art, ceramics, pottery, textiles, life drawing, woodworking, metalworking, horticultural pursuits.

The current facility has the potential, over the next couple of years, to grow the membership, add more activities and provide a lot of fun and enjoyment to all.

Colin Berry

MACS president

Congratulations on marriage equality vote

Congratulations to the Eurobodalla community for your overwhelming support for love and voting yes.

The marriage equality survey results show the majority of the community across Australia voted yes, with 64.9 per cent of people in the Eden-Monaro electorate supporting marriage equality.

You have taken a stand in this historic survey and showed how love can win.

Thank you to everyone who took part in local events, made calls to family and friends and otherwise worked hard to get the job done.

We now look forward with hope to a free vote in the Australian Parliament to turn the survey result into laws guaranteeing marriage equality.

The Greens will do all we can so we have marriage equality nationally before the end of the year.

We know the local community will be watching closely so it becomes a reality.

Call for readers to sink teeth into recycling

Recycling is the future of our children, (but) no one has given a thought about recycling used oral care items –  they now just go into landfill.

In our community, there have to be tonnes of oral care products wasted each monthly.

There is an easy solution to this problem.

The link below makes it easier to recycle these items.

We also get free postage to a recycling depot.

All we have to do is clean the items and save them in a bucket then visit www.terracycle.com.au to request a postage label. Print and post.

This initiative, has an added benefit with the opportunity to help charities.

It would be nice if there was a common drop-off point for the shire, for instance, in Moruya.

The town of Eden is doing this right now; I am very sure Eurobodalla inhabitants can show leadership.

We can finally dispose of our waste sensibly, and not expect the council to dump it at the landfill.
