Today marks exactly five years since hundreds of residents raced to the coastline at Batemans Bay to witness a waterspout whirling through the water for about 20 minutes.
It is believed the spout was 2km in width and ventured close to Observation Point in Batehaven before it dispersed.
The mini tornado on water is usually caused by a combination of rotating updraught, warm water and thunderstorms.
