Narooma High School conducted its athletics carnival this year on May 16. Montague came fourth, Corunna was third, Wagonga was second and the house champion for 2017 was Dromedary!

The students had some outstanding results including records broken. Curtis Jack broke three records in the 13 years boys Javelin, Discus and Shot Put. Elli Beecham broke the 13 Years Girls High Jump record. Byron Lonsdale-Patten broke the 12 Years Boys Long Jump record.
Our age group champions were:
- 12 years girls - Regina Nicholls

- 15 years girls - Caitlin Reid
- 16 years girls - Zoe Holdsworth
- 17 years girls - Taleha Ardler
- 12 years boys - Byron Lonsdale-Patten
- 13 years boys - Curtis Jack
- 14 years boys - Kurt Zideluns
- 15 years boys - Jack Bennett
- 16 years boys - Liam Russell
- 17 years boys - Zach Brown
The top two in each event progressed to the zone carnival on Friday, June 16 in Cooma. Narooma High School students all competed very well with Elli Beecham and Lilly Bennett both age champions.
Regional athletics was in Canberra in August. Narooma High School had 21 students attend with many personal best performances.
Curtis Jack was the only student that qualified for the NSW State Championships in September. Curtis in the 13 years boys age group placed first in the long jump and javelin and was second in the shot put.
Curtis Jack attended the NSW CHS Athletics Championships in September and did extremely well placing eighth in the Javelin, ninth in the Shot Put and 12th in the Long Jump.
Narooma High School had one student attend the NSW All Schools Athletics Championships at Homebush in October. Elli Beecham competed in the 13 years girl’s age group 100m, 200m, long jump and high jump.
Narooma High School had 30 students compete at the Zone X-Country in Wolumla. It had five students then compete at the Regional X-Country which was on June 2. They included Georgia Poyner, Elli Beecham, Grace Gowing, Banjo King and Aria Krelle.
Georgia Poyner competed in July at the NSW All Schools X-Country at Eastern Creek in Sydney. Georgia came 14th in the 17 years girls CHS section.
The Narooma High School Open Boys Touch team were awarded Eurobodalla Zone Champions on May 2 at Moruya.
On the way to defeating Batemans Bay High in the final 5-1, they had to win a number of round games, including: Batemans Bay 3-1, Monaro 3-1, Bombala 7-0 and Moruya 4-2.
The boys progressed to the regional finals at Milton on June 12. The team consisted of Jeremy Sly, Zac Martin, Mitchell Swadling, Tommy Driscoll, Jackson Kelly, Marcus Lonsdale-Patten, Tully Wilton, Ryan Sweeney, Clyde Parsons-Campbell and Liam Sweeney.
Tully Wilton represented the South Coast in the U/15s Touch at the NSW Touch Football Championships in Mudgee. He also represented Southern Region at the NSW CHS Rugby League Championships in Newcastle. Tully had been playing really well until a broken foot forced him out of the tournament.
The U/15s girl’s netball team won the Eurobodalla Zone Gala Day on June 20 and then played in the South Coast CHS Regional Finals in Wollongong.
The girls were undefeated all day to reach the final against Ulladulla. Knowing that only the winner would progress to the state finals, the girls lifted and played an amazing game of netball to win by five points.
This is the first time Narooma High School has qualified for the girl’s state netball finals, which will be held in 2018.
The NSW Netball Schools Cup was in Queanbeyan in August. It had four teams attend this tournament. The Year 9 and 10 boy’s team won this event and progressed through to the state finals in Sydney in September.
The U/15s boys basketball were undefeated at the Eurobodalla Zone Gala Day in Bega in July and progressed to the regional finals in Wollongong.

- Lilly Bennett - Eurobodalla Zone Athletics Champion 17+ years
- Curtis Jack – South Coast Regional Athletics Champion 13 years
