Narooma golf results

Narooma Golf Club

Thursday, 16 November 2017. A stiff breeze from the east nor'east of around 25-30kmh dominated as the trade winds traditionally do this time of year. 138 golfers enjoyed warm temperatures in the low 20s and a course in pretty good nick just days after the Narooma Open. The greens are superb and the course looks a picture.

The winner in A grade was the tall and talented Andrew Thompson with 41 points and he was three ahead of Mark Anderson and Bob Knipler who took out second and third respectively.

David Hayward took out B grade with a fine score of 42 Stableford points and he too was three better than Colin Pratt and Colin O'Sullivan who held on their vouchers on a count back.

James Dickson won C grade, also on a count back, from Wayne Rollings and John Greg, all on 39 points.

The nearest the pins were won by Alan Butterworth, Andrew Thompson, Robert Sayers and Ricky Falconer.

Saturday’s Stableford competition took place after rain on Friday night and early morning and the skies were grey and humidity high by 1108 when my group hit off.

I understand Mystery Bay had had 30mms, Potato Point 12 and Narooma just a couple of mms. It turned out to be a  " three seasons in one day" and one of the reasons a few members stayed at home, however, their absence was not apparent as we had many visitors from interstate on the course.

Once again the scores in all grades were very close with count backs required. Ben Sealy won A grade with 39 points just one better than retired dentist Paul Mood and third on a count back was greenkeeper Marty Brooker, edging out Ricky Falconer and James Alexander.

It was even closer in B grade with Nigel Roberts winning with 37 points on a count back from Robert Lloyd and Russ Thompson who were just clear of Neil Thew.

Finally in C grade it was a similar story with Richard Bodell winning on a count back from Henry George with 39 points, two ahead of third placed Ian Harris.

Well played all who scored 33 or more, as you won a golf ball. Eddie Harvey, from Hope Island, picked up two nearest the pins at the third and seventeenth. Brendan Warby was closest at the ninth and Brian Anstey at the fourteenth.
