Graffiti attacks – Narooma area police are investigating the graffiti attack at Cobargo and will go through CCTV footage in an effort to identify the suspects. Police have notified Roads and Maritime Services and the Bega Valley Shire Council regarding the vandalised road signs and power poles also hit in the attack.
Police at Narooma also continue to investigate an extensive graffiti spray incident that occurred on the Narooma Flat and also on and near the Narooma Bridge on the night of Monday, October 23 but there had been no more instances of this graffiti in town. Trunketabella accident – Four people were involved in a two-car accident on the Princes Highway at Trunketabella north of Bodalla at 11.45am on Saturday, November 18. The accident was two kilometres south of Western Boundary Road, with both cars ending up off the road and one flipped on its roof. SES and RFS crews also attended and the highway was closed for a short time.
The southbound vehicle crossed the centre line colliding head-on with a northbound vehicle. The driver of the southbound vehicle was transported to Moruya Hospital with minor injuries and later released. None of the other people involved sustained any serious injuries or required treatment. Police investigations continue.
Toilet fire – Unknown persons lit a fire using toilet paper in the disabled toilet at the Narooma Visitor Information Centre at 8.40pm on Sunday, November 17. The fire extinguished itself before any major damage was caused, but anyone who saw anything should contact Narooma police or Crime Stoppers.
Urinating offence – A 33-year-old local man was issued with a criminal infringement notice for urinating on the Princes Highway near the Plaza at 8.05pm on Sunday, November 17. In the lead-up to the holiday period, police remind everyone that anti-social behaviour such as this could land you a $500 on-the-spot fine.
Drugs seized – Police were called to a unit on Cresswick Parade, Dalmeny at 12.45am on Saturday, November 18 as a result of a number of young adults overdosing on alcohol and/or drugs. One young male person from the Sydney area was transported to Moruya Hospital suffering from a suspected overdose. Police seized a number of illicit drugs found in the unit.
Lights damaged – Unknown persons sometime between 2pm on October 29 and 5pm on November 10 pulled out a garden light and damaged a number of others at a unit complex on the Princes Highway, Narooma. Any information should be given to Narooma police or Crime Stoppers.
