Today, December 1, is the first day of summer and here comes the rain.

While we don’t have the flooding forecast for Victoria, weather reports are calling for steady rain for Narooma over the next five days.

According to Willy Weather, there is a 90 per cent of chance up to 25mm on Saturday, then only 1-5mm for Sunday, but back up to 85 per cent chance of up to 25mm on Monday, 95 per cent of up to 25mm on Tuesday and 90 per cent up to 15mm on Wednesday.

Winds are also forecast to be strong over the weekend with a strong wind warning for the Batemans Coast on Saturday and Sunday.

This is in complete contrast to the weird fog conditions at Narooma earlier this week caused by stable and humid air over the Tasman Sea. The northerly winds in the days since mean the Ekman effect is in full effect with cold upwellings dropping the water temps.

Back to the immediate forecast, swells will be northerly on Friday, slowly shifting to southwesterly by Sunday afternoon. Swell size is picking up a little after the last couple of weeks lull.

North facing beaches are predicted to have waves of 4-5ft on Saturday and Sunday, with south facing beaches the best bet for a Sunday afternoon session.

The weather in Narooma today is sunny with a 60 per cent chance of showers in the early afternoon, and a maximum temperature of 27 to 32 degrees.

Winds will be northeasterly at 25 to 35 km/h around midday.

Fire danger for the Eurobodalla is low-moderate.
