You can win free tickets to the Australian Museum’s show Mammoths – Giants of the Ice Age by helping scientists keep track of much smaller beasties – frogs.

The museum has launched a Frog ID app and by downloading the app and recording frog sounds between now and December 31, kids can be in the running to get into the ice age – free.

After downloading the app, visit www.frogid.net.au and join the group Narooma News.

Then get outside recording the croaks in your patch. Submit your recording to the museum and wait for verification.

The child or teenager in the group who records the most verified frog species will win a family pass to meet the most complete and best-preserved mammoth ever found in the flesh.

It is a 42,000-year-old baby woolly mammoth named Lyuba (pronounced Lay-oo-bah), whose name means “love” in Russian. This is the first time the world’s most intact mammoth – who was discovered in 2007 with her flesh, internal organs, bones and milk tusks all perfectly intact – has traveled to the Southern Hemisphere from Siberia.

Mammoths – Giants of the Ice Age, which opens on November 18, was secured with the support of the NSW Government via Destination NSW.
