Narooma CWA members have put together 16 “Bags for Dignity” and delivered them to where they will be distributed to those in need.
Bags for Dignity are to assist those women who have fled domestic violence with very little, the bag contains personal items to assist them at this time.
As CWA NSW financially supports domestic violence programs, this is another way the Narooma branch felt they could support these women after a suggestion by members Maree Warden and Suzanne Hancock.
Over a few months, a total of 16 bags were collected and have now been delivered to be distributed as necessary.
Earlier in the year Maree and Suzanne also had members collect items for “Days for Girls”- items which enable girls of the world to miss less days of school each year.
The members of CWA Narooma branch will gather at Casey’s café this Friday, December 8 at 12noon for 12.30pm for the Branch Christmas lunch.
During the festivities the Christmas raffle consisting of nine prizes will be drawn.
Thank you to those who purchased tickets as these funds also help us to give.
A big thank you to those retailers of Narooma/Dalmeny who donated the prizes, without the generosity of local businesses many of Narooma’s service clubs and charitable organisations would find it harder to do their good work.
On Tuesday, December 19 from 10am to 12noon, the CWA Narooma hosts its monthly free community morning tea.
Come along for a friendly chat and a cuppa. All welcome, mums and bubs, men and women, we even have a front lawn/verandah for the dog.
There is ramp access although at present we are working on ways to make a truly disable access toilet, there is one adjacent at cinema. We would love to see you.
