Monday’s initial fine weather lasted long enough for 33 bowlers prior to the late afternoon thunderstorm and rain where organiser Ken had the points system deciding the winners on 20 1/2 in Account Cartwright and Tom’s son Ken from the runners-up on 19 1/2 in Dennis Badrim, Greg Whiskey-an and Windy Ray. The violin comic’s boy Ken took out the resting toucher with his 1st bowl but the $100 jackpot was not won. Wrong bias sinners included Ex.PM Neil (2), Greg Ryan, Account Gourley and Ken Thomson while the raffle prizes went to Dennis Badrim, Windy again, Greg who kindly sent it round again for Broker Jim and Graham or Brett who took home the last prize as usual.

Thursday’s clear skies saw 32 bowlers on the green battling as usual with the fickle wind but not before organiser the KV man had everyone involved in a spider which saw Ace’s mate Spade Sims as the closest then having the lowest winning margin deciding the winners. After countbacks due to 3 teams on 4 the winning team was visitor D. Houndman and the familiar faces of Bluey Ralph and gospeller Bob from the runners-up in Birdie Gourley, Pat, Ron, Jim or Harold and Dipper Ron. No resting toucher was recorded but the $164 jackpot was won by the fours teams. Wrong bias sinners included Dine-back Brooker, Ex.PM Neil Doug Sims while the raffle winners were the Goose, violin-comic’s son Ken, Lee Morse, Ian East-off and Bev Arrow-water. It was good to see the Bowaters joining us for the game again.
18 Friday twilight bowlers had overcast and windy conditions for an enjoyable night for bowls with the winners being IOU Ian and Bob Less from the runners-up John Verr-L4leather and the Goose with the Bodalla Hippie Sticks prize going to the boys Travis and Derek. It’s on every Friday night weather permitting so get your names in early by 4.45pm Friday please to help organiser Dipper Ron with the cards and if your name is down and you can’t make it, ring the club, earliest please.

It was an overcast day, good for a game of bowls. We played twenty-one ends of two-bowl triples, warming up for the pennant season. It was a mufti day as we welcomed the blokes onto the green.
Winners were lead Olwyn Mayer, second Maureen Nankervis and skip Keith Cook with Jan Jones, Lyn Dunbar and Pat Barklem as runners-up. Margaret Carpenter was closest to the spider and Maureen Nankervis scored a resting toucher. Congratulations to all bowlers.
Enid Brooker and Kathy Ryan took home the raffle prizes. We wished veteran Lucy Gresty a very happy birthday. Remember the Ladies Christmas Party on Friday December 9 at 12.30pm, the last day of Tuesday bowls for 2017 on December 13 and the Presentation Dinner-Dance on Wednesday December 14 at 6.00pm. See you there. Good bowling at the friendly club.

Wednesday. 29-11- 2017. On a day when you could not see from one end of the green to the other, by a miracle we had 40 bowlers (6 triples & 1 pairs) find their way to the green, even Gil from Gilgandra.
The afternoon winners were decided by the team with the lowest winning margin, & that team was Ron Douglass, Larry Hardingham & John McNamara, 22 shots, a margin of 2 shots over Tony Gors, Paul Read & Shortie (Ian Smart) with 20 shots.
Runners-up were Graham Cummins, Kevin Mitchell & Bruce Rapkins, 20 shots, a shot margin of 3 over G.Riley, Gil Riley & Jim Grant, 17 shots.
The bowler with earliest resting toucher of the day was Terry Reid with his resting toucher at 1248 hrs.
Saturday 02-12- 2017. No Bowls. Swimming Lessons.
Sunday. 3-12- 2017. A few ends of bowls by the 20 Joes Special mixed bowlers were able to be played before the rain came. Lucky rinks decided the winners on the day, & those winners were Mavis Hardy & Bruce Rapkins with 15 shots over Peter Hawker & Peter Jones 5 shots. Runners-up were Pieter Vos & Barry Lymbury 14 shots over Jan Rapkins & Rod Holman 10 shots.
During the last days of November some of our bowlers did themselves & their club really proud, starting with Jay Breust winning the under 25 NSW Championship; really well done Jay.
Also our Men’s State 4s Champions, Peter Hattam, Keith Bowater (replacing the injured Keith Pickett) John Breust & Jay Breust (that bowler again) travelled to Merimbula to compete in the Australian National Titles.
They played their way through to the final & came up against a very strong Queensland side & were unfortunately unable to come away with the win.
But you are the 2nd placed team in Australia, you’ve done yourselves proud, also Narooma, Narooma Bowls and NSW.

Playing against Betty Blakeley, Clare Cork and Gail Riley (skip) scores were close early on then Helen’s team applied some pressure and went on to win the game and the lucky rink prize.
Sue Wales won the raffle, thanks to Rapleys Meats.
An enjoyable evening at Presentation Night last Friday and an opportunity to acknowledge achievements throughout the year and thanks to all those who participated in events. Congratulations to the Narooma Men’s Fours team on claiming silver at the Australian Championships last Tuesday – a great result.
