
SOUTH Coast products Tom Engelbrecht and Matthews Gilkes have helped their ACT/NSW Country side remained undefeated at the under 19s cricket national championships in Tasmania.
With a draw and two wins to their names already in the tournament, the pair’s side took on the Cricket Australia XI on Friday at the North Tasmania Cricket Association ground one.
ACT/NSW Country won the toss and elected to bat, posting the competitive total of 9/171 from their 50 overs.
Ulladulla’s Gilkes opened the batting and scored 10 from the 15 deliveries he faced.
Engelbrecht was the star of the innings though, top scoring with a strong 71 from 82 balls – an innings which included three boundaries and two sixes.
In reply, the Cricket Australia XI were all out for 142 after 30.1 overs.
Engelbrecht backed up his solid batting performance with figures of 5/54 from his nine overs, as well as one run out.
Wicket keeper Gilkes managed three catches in the win.
The pair’s team will now turn their attentions to hosts Tasmania at Windsor Park Tasmania on Sunday.
