The elderly residents at the retirement village and the visiting primary school students have had conversations about a vast array of subjects.
For example, residents and long-time local Allan Dufty conducted a show-and-tell of his World Masters Games swimming medals.
This created an abundance of questions to be asked by the children and the enjoyment of reminiscing could be seen on Allan and the children’s faces.
Coin collections, old photos and memorabilia have enthralled the children making for great conversations between the young and the elderly.
Narooma Public School ended the year’s visits with a Christmas musical event with both students and elderly participating together in the singing of carols.
“The smiles that these visits and interaction create is truly a blessing to be observed,” IRT staff member Dee Brooker said.
“A huge ‘thank you’ goes out to teacher Rob Russack, Narooma Public School and the children.”
