While some services around the region take a break over the holidays, local beaches will be patrolled as normal making local breaks the spot to beat the heat expected over the next week.
Shoalhaven
Libraries: Will be closed from Monday December 25 and will reopen Tuesday January 2.
Garbage collection: All areas with a kerbside bin collection on Christmas Day will be serviced as normal Ensure bins are out night before as the truck drivers start earlier on Christmas Day. All Recycling and Waste Depots are closed on all public holidays except Easter Monday.
Recycle collection: Kerbside recycling will be collected on a weekly basis from the Monday prior to Christmas Day to the last Friday in January inclusive. After this, the normal fortnightly schedule will resume. Your collection day will not change.
Animal shelter: Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The shelter hours are from 9 until 4pm.
South Coast Correctional Centre: Open for weekend visits. Closed for bookings Tuesday but opening Friday instead.
Shoalhaven Regional Gallery: Closed from 2pm Saturday December 23 until Tuesday January 2.
Summer Shuttle Bus – Bay and Basin: Shoalhaven City Council is making it easy for the Bay and Basin community to get around this Christmas holiday. From Monday, 18 December 2017 to Friday, 5 January 2018 a Summer shuttle bus will be available from 9.45 am to 2.15 pm. For a gold coin donation, hail down the bus and ride to the shops, the pool, skate park and the beach in the Bay and Basin area.
Roxy Cinema: Closed Christmas Day. Open Boxing Day.
West Nowra tip: Open every day except Christmas Day from 8am-4pm. The Buyback centre is open from 10am-4pm.
Nowra Aquatic Park: Closed Christmas Day and New Years Day. Boxing Day hours are 11am-4pm. All other weekdays are 6am 7pm and weekend 10am-5pm.
Bomaderry Aquatic Centre: Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Years Day and January 2.
Weekday hours are 6am-7pm for the indoor pool and 6am-6pm for the outdoor pool. Weekend hours are 10am-4pm.
Ulladulla Leisure Centre: Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. Opening hours for Monday to Thursday are 6am-8pm. Friday opening hours are 6am-7pm. Weekend hours are 9am-5pm.
Shoalhaven Visitor Information Centre: Closed Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day. On Christmas Eve it will be open 10am-2pm and all other days the centre is open from 9am-5pm.
Kiama
Council Administration building: Closed from 4.15pm Friday 22 December. Reopens 8.45am Tuesday 2 January.
Joyce Wheatley Community Centre: Closed from 3pm Friday 22nd December. Reopens 8.30am Tuesday 2 January.
Minnamurra Recycling Facility: Closed Christmas Day. Open Boxing Day. Closed New Year’s Day.
Kiama Leisure Centre: Open 5.45am to 4pm Christmas Eve. Closed Christmas Day. Open 9am to 4pm Boxing Day. Regular hours 27 to 30 December. Open 9am to 4pm New Year's Eve. Open 9am to 4pm New Year's Day.
Kiama Library: Closed from 2pm Saturday 23 December. Reopens Tuesday 2 January.
Gerringong Library: Closed from Friday 22 December. Normal hours resume Tuesday 2 January.
Youth Centre: Closed from 4pm Saturday 23 December, reopens 12pm Tuesday 2 January.
Eurobodalla
Batemans Bay visitor centre: Closed Christmas Day.
Batemans Bay swimming pools: Closed Christmas Day.
Waste management facilities at Surf Beach, Moruya and Brou: closed Christmas Day and New Year's Day.
Waste collection: Will continue as normal.
Moruya Airport: Will continue as normal.
Out of School Hours care: Closed on Friday December 22 at 6pm and will re-open on Tuesday January 2 at 8am.
Community aged care and disability services: Will provide essential planned services.
Council after-hours: A telephone service 1800 755 760 will be fielding calls and a team of operational staff will provide emergency response during this time.
Dental emergencies: The Australian Dental Association (ADA) compiled a list of private dental practices who can provide emergency dental care over the Christmas-New Year period.
Services will be limited to relief of pain or trauma and the provision of antibiotics where required. Costs will apply for any treatment provided. In New South Wales visit www.adansw.com.au.
