Crews in the epic surfboat race, the George Bass Marathon, are on their way to Moruya on December 31.
Surf ski contestants were the first to leave Batemans Bay at 9.30am, heading to Moruya on the first leg of the seven-day, seven-leg event.
They were followed by male and female surfboat crews in open and masters categories.
They expect to arrive in Eden a week from today.
The first contestants were expected across the finish line of the first leg at Moruya mid-morning.
