Noosa’s Masters Men’s crew faced a tough battle in leg three of the George Bass Surf Boat Marathon when their support boat broke down during the race.

The mishap meant the crew had to row the entire 22 kilometres without a changeover, putting them at a disadvantage to the rest of the field.
One crewmember explained the reaction when they found out about the break down.
“We thought one of the blokes had pulled the plug on it actually,” he said jokingly.
“We weren’t mad at all; It’s just a bid of bad luck.
“As soon as they told us we just said: Right, we’ve done our training, let’s just do it.
“We’re not going to be world beaters today, but we’ll still try to do our best.”
The crew also thanked the efforts of other crews’ support boats, including race leaders Bulli, in dropping off some water and food to the stricken crew.
