Not only have the number of local paddlers been high, but the club has also enjoyed visitors from other clubs.
Cathy, a member of the ACT Fire team, has been sharing training techniques with local paddlers as she gears up for the Australian Masters Championships later this year.
Cathy said she was happy she had a way to continue training over the Christmas period.
“I am currently doing a lot of serious training in Canberra in the lead up to the Australian Masters but it is great to know I can come for my annual Christmas holiday in Narooma and keep up my training regime,” she said.
“There is always something new and fun happening down here at the Narooma Club.”
Whilst the main emphasis of the club is to keep fit and have fun, it has also been a goal of the club to enter a regatta with a team completely comprised of paddlers from Narooma.
Usually club members join with our fellow paddlers from Merimbula and Moruya to field teams in regattas but with member numbers soaring we are hoping that 2018 will see this goal achieved.
Despite having a lot of new members, the team is working together well under the tuition of coaches Heather McMillan and Carol Meindl.
If you would like to have a go at Dragon Boating, pop down to the club’s boat shed (situated next to the Quarterdeck Café) on Saturdays at 8.30am. For more information contact the club via email Narooma.bwd@gmail.com You can also follow us on facebook.
