The 13-year-old singer-songwriter from Bega will be competing in the Battle of the Song Star category as well as the Battle of the Young Stars on January 25.
Felicity and her parents will be experiencing the 10 day festival with 700 performers and 2,800 events.
“I’m looking forward to going to some of the shows up there like the Golden Guitar awards,” she said.
Felicity began playing piano at the age of six, and in recent years has taken to the guitar and singing.
She studies music as an elective in school, as well as taking lessons to improve her guitar and singing.
Her favourite musician is Amber Lawrence, and she hopes to meet up with some country music artists during her visit to Tamworth.
“My number one is Amber Lawrence, I really like her music and listen to her a lot,” she said.
“I am hoping to meet a few country music artists that I met on a cruise a little while ago.”
You may have seen Felicity busk at the Candelo markets, playing classic and modern country folk tunes as well as songs she has written herself.
She has entered multiple competitions and will also be hitting the streets of Tamworth to busk.
It will be Felicity’s first time in Tamworth, she is mostly excited to perform her original song Humble on stage.
In December, Felicity submitted the song to a competition - part of The Battle of the Young Stars program run by the Capital Country Music Association. She has been invited to compete against ten finalists in the 18’s category.
“I love performing in front of people and really love music,” she said.
“If you place in the top two you get a money prize, the first prize is to compete in the champions of champions event, which is at the end of the festival, where all of the competition winners will be performing.”
The junior and senior winners will receive a scholarship to the Country Music Academy in Tamworth.
“It would be really good making it to the academy where you can do workshops with some famous artists,” she said.
She had been working on her song Humble over the last 6 months.
“With most of my songs I choose a word and I revolve the song around that word,” she said.
“The words I choose have their own meaning and I just go with it.”
Felicity hopes to be invited to the Cobargo Folk Festival in March.
