Bega MP Andrew Constance and Eurobodalla Shire Council Mayor, Liz Innes on Friday, February 23, announced the shire had secured $655,000 from the NSW Government’s $200 million fund.
Projects across the Eurobodalla to be funded under Stronger Country Communities include:
- Replacement of the Central Tilba Bate Street public toilet
- Pathways at Mossy Point and South Durras, connecting existing pathway networks with financial contributions from local community associations
- Eurobodalla halls, including re-stumping of Bodalla Hall and expansion of Malua Bay Hall
- Moruya Showground - drainage and additional car parking
- Corrigans/Batehaven precinct: Accessible change room at the Corrigans all-abilities playground and viewing platform at Observation Point.
Mr Constance said the funds would refurbish community halls, replace amenities, construct paths and build accessible infrastructure.
“This is fantastic news for residents right across the shire and I thank the council for bringing these projects forward for consideration,” Mr Constance said.
“Our community has been calling out for upgrades to local facilities and I’m thrilled these can now be carried out.
“Stronger Country Communities funding is an investment in local infrastructure to improve the lives of residents and enhance the attractiveness of our region – this funding will help us do exactly that.”
Eurobodalla Mayor Cr Liz Innes said she is thrilled.
“These are fantastic projects for our towns and villages and we’re grateful to Andrew and the NSW Government for recognising that local councils can’t always afford to do all the things they’d like. This funding is absolutely invaluable.”
The Stronger Country Communities fund is one of the six funds that make up the NSW Government’s $1.3 billion Regional Growth Fund, which is designed to improve economic growth and productivity through investment in regional communities.
