PCYC NSW has become one of NSW’s largest providers within the state government’s Active Kids program.

Eligible children will receive a $100 voucher that can be redeemed towards the payment of PCYC sport and recreation membership, uniforms and participation fees.

The program is open to more than 60,000 children who attend one of the 66 PCYC clubs and centres in NSW, and also to new members and their families.

As well as being one of the biggest providers under the scheme, PCYC is one of a small group of providers who offer eligible activities all-year-round.

The vouchers are available to children in NSW between four-and-a-half and 18 years of age enrolled in school from kindergarten to year 12, including registered home-schooled children.

More than 100 different activities are available in PCYC clubs throughout NSW, and the rebate can be used for activities of at least eight weeks’ duration and be applied to registration, participation, and membership fees.

Activities available at PCYC clubs may include gymnastics, boxing, fitness classes, court sports such as badminton, basketball, futsal, and formal indoor sports competitions.

PCYC NSW CEO Dominic Teakle said PCYC was at the heart of 65 communities in metropolitan, regional, rural and remote NSW.

“For nearly four generations, PCYC, in partnership with the NSW Police Force, had offered safe, secure and affordable recreational and elite sports and activities,” he said.

“Our mission to empower young people and get kids active in life is a perfect fit with the Active Kids scheme which aims to increase participation of children in sport and active recreation to contribute to reducing the prevalence of childhood overweight and obesity.”

Families are able to apply for a voucher in 2018 through an online portal, sport.nsw.gov.au/activekids, within the Service NSW website.

Further information on the rebate scheme is available from any PCYC club, at www.pcycnsw.org.au/active-kids or by emailing activekids@pcycnsw.org.au.
