Art is a great healer and that is why after a devastating week in Tathra and the surrounding communities who have in one way or another shared the shock, grief and trauma, CAMP&CO is pleased to open Drinking Sunshine by local Bermagui artist Nicole Grimm-Hewitt.

This exhibition is inspired by our local environment, its beauty, wildlife and everything that naturally brings joy to the heart. For some, these are fleeting moments and for others such as Ms Grimm-Hewitt, they have chosen to be fully immersed in it.
This exhibition also honours the local area and everything within it that offers so much relief, pleasure and immense good energy.
Ms Grimm-Hewitt transcends us emotionally into this joyous space, whether it’s through her whimsical beach scenes, her stunning views of local iconic swimming destinations, her engaging bird life or her sensitive representations of our most beautiful sea life creatures.
“The pieces I have created for this show are inspired by the natural beauty of life on the coast and are a product of my recent sea-change to Bermagui,” Ms Grimm-Hewitt said.
“Drinking Sunshine is about absorbing happiness by taking warmth and light into your everyday outlook.
“Happiness is contagious and it’s my desire to immerse this into my art in hope that it is transferred to the viewer.”
This exhibition will be a reminder for some of why we choose to be here and why we’ll remain here and rebuild lives together. Because at the end of the day, what’s important to many of us is to continue to drink sunshine.
Drinking Sunshine, new works by Nicole Grimm-Hewitt opens this Saturday, March 24, 5-7pm at CAMP&CO of Bermagui.
Exhibition will run until Sunday, April 22.
