The 2018 Local Hero Award is open to Eurobodalla residents who have gone above and beyond in any field. It will recognise the work and outstanding achievements of volunteers in the community.
Eurobodalla Mayor Liz Innes said the award would add to the Australia Day awards held in each of the shire’s towns each year.
“The Local Hero Award is another opportunity to celebrate the wonderful efforts and achievements of our community,” Cr Innes said.
“The council is calling for nominations of local heroes or volunteers who may have gone above and beyond in any field – from sports and community service to health, education, arts or the environment – or they might simply be someone who has made an extraordinary act of compassion, generosity, bravery, ingenuity, or achieved a professional accomplishment.”
Nominees must be Eurobodalla residents.
All nominators and nominees will be invited to attend the Local Hero Awards presentation ceremony at the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens on Thursday, May 24 where the finalists and winner will be announced.
Nomination forms are available on the council’s website, in the Batemans Bay, Moruya and Narooma Libraries, and from the council’s administration centre in Moruya.
Nominations close Friday 11 May.
