Just after 5pm Saturday, May 12, the body of a 26-year-old man was found in the Bermagui River, opposite an address on South River Road, Bermagui.

The man had been reported missing earlier that morning from his home nearby.

The man was located with injuries, which are believed to be consistent with a motor vehicle crash the man was involved in about 8.45pm on Friday, May 11.

The crash occurred on West Street, Bermagui, where the vehicle he was driving, a 2003 Subaru Impreza, crashed into the front fence of a property.

The man left the scene after the incident.

Police from South Coast Police District are appealing for anyone with information who had contact with the man, or sighted him between these times, to contact them.

The man is described as 182cm tall, athletic build, with a shaven head and stubble. He is also extensively tattooed with a rose on the back of his left hand and neck tattoos. He was believed to be wearing dark clothing.

While investigations are ongoing, the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious at this stage.
