Name of pet: Chester
Age of pet: Six months
Breed: Short-hair cat
Owner: Elaine Couttas
Suburb: Tuross Head
What attracted you to this pet? I’ve always had cats. My last one passed away two years ago when he was 17 I decided I wanted another ginger one, and when I went to see Chester, he was just what I was looking for, not all ginger, but that’s okay. He looks a lot like my Jack Russell, Ralph.
How did you make the decision to adopt a rescue animal? I knew the RSPCA had lots of kittens available, and I was sure I’d find the one I was looking for.
What is the best thing about your new friend? Chester has bonded so well with my Jack Russell, Ralph, that I’m sure Chester thinks he’s a Jack Russell too. They are great mates, playing and sleeping together all the time. Chester is an inside only cat; that way I know he’s safe and what he hasn’t had he doesn’t miss. When Ralph is outside, Chester enjoys the sun in the sunroom while watching Ralph. Then it’s back to playing and sleeping when Ralph returns.
Why would you encourage others looking to buy a pet to consider a rescue animal? Chester is no trouble at all; he’s just what I was looking for, and, like all RSPCA animals, he came microchipped and desexed.
Eurobodalla RSPCA meets on the fourth Sunday of the month at Tomakins Sports and Social Club from 2pm. Details: 0424 228 425.
