Science teacher Christina Potts has organised the event at Corunna Farm, Lot 1, Mystery Bay Road, Mystery Bay, from 7-9pm on Wednesday, May 23.
“To find our South Coast NSW Star Party and register visit www.abc.net.au/stargazing,” Ms Potts said.
“Each participant will need their own pair of binoculars or a telescope; available for purchase on registration at $6.50.
“Bring warm clothes and camp chair. Warm soup will be available for donation but please rug up and register your interest to be part of this world record attempt.”
The ABC, in partnership with the Australian National University (ANU), is calling on all Australians to help smash the Guinness World Records title for the most people in one country stargazing at the same time.
To smash the record they hope to have more than 30, 000 people across multiple sites simultaneously observing an object in the night sky through a telescope for the same 10-minute period.
