It didn’t take them long to warm up though, with plenty of tries from the under 7s Red team to start the day.
Bombala is always a long day for the club with a lot of travel time, but the Junior Devils seem to hit the ground running against the Blue Heelers, and the games are entertaining for the spectators and players alike.
The under 9s ball movement and organisation continues to improve, with some good teamwork leading to tries coming from offloads and set plays. Ngametua Ben was strong in defence, along with Quinten Gibson who produced a couple of try savers against the speedy Bombala side.
The under 8s and Under 10s had byes this week, but will return next week well rested and ready to play.
The Girls Mod League Tag had a tough game but came out on top 38-8, with Rogue Constable being voted by her team mates as Player’s Player.
The Under 14s were also victorious with the score at 44-14 when the game was called to an end due to injury.
The Under 16s Girls International League Tag team went down against the undefeated Bombala High Heelers, with the final score 14-0. The Under 16’s fought hard to win over Bombala 50 – 16.
Featured Team
This weeks feature team is the Under 12’s coached by Jeff Rapley.
Coach Rapley has been telling the team they need to work together to get involved and find the ball. They played a great game against Bombala, coming out winners 62 – 0.
Coach Rapley mentioned that the most pleasing thing about Saturday’s game was the team effort, nailing the things they have been practicing for the last couple of months, and perfecting them on the footy field.
If they can maintain this every week they will be hard to stop on their way to a premiership.
