The cold fresh wind had the under 8s fired up from the start; they arrived at the ground with a “we came to play” attitude, and held it throughout the game.
The team started well with multiple tries, and busted through the defensive line on a number of occasions.
Shia stole the show by scoring an almost length of the field try, leaving a field of fallen players in his wake. Coach Eddie Moore is proud of his players and the team effort they display each week.
The Girls Mini League Tag Team had no opposing team to play this round, so instead of having a bye they used it as an opportunity to split up and play against each other.
Runs were shared and all players were encouraged. It was also an exciting opportunity to convert their tries. Amazing progress and something to be very proud of!
The under 9s had a close and exciting game against the Bulldogs, with the Devil’s displaying some good tackling skills. Drew Marshall and Nate Miller combined well early on to score a try from a set play they’d been practicing at training, demonstrating the progress being made by the team.
The under 10s won by forfeit due to lack of numbers on the Merimbula-Pambula side, but in the spirit of things all players that did make the trip north had a muck around game with the Devils, as it’s always good to practice and have a kick of the footy.
Girls Mod League Tag won 42-12 with Mystery Bennett named Player of the Day and Most Improved Player was Zehara Jorgensen.
The Under 14s took to the field with confidence and made the most of the home ground advantage to come out on top with the final score 36-16.
The rain that had held off for most of the morning started to fall just as the Girls International League Tag team ran on to the field, it didn’t seem to bother them though as they went on to win 22-0.
The final game of the day was the under 16s, also winning 44-18.
Team of the Week
This weeks feature team is the under 12s coached by Jeff Rapley.
The under 12s were defeated this week in a tough game against the Bulldogs. Both teams played hard right until the final whistle, with the Bulldogs scoring a try with only minutes left in the game and the Devil’s answering immediately with a try of their own right on full time, unfortunately though not quite enough to take the win with the final score Merimbula-Pambula 22 to Narooma 16.
